Our travels through South Africa have taken us to some epic places that a lot of people know about but when you find a hidden gem like Hondeklip Bay (Dog Stone Bay) all the hours on the road, planning, logistics, and the general travel ups and downs fall away so you can be still within yourself and just experience a place. The owner of Dog Stone Cottage Saloumie was so awesome:) We never got to meet her as she works on a game farm in the Northern Cape but she gave us all the information we needed in order to have a memorable stay in Hondeklip Bay. The wooden cabin was everything a small family like ours could want or need and the view of the ocean from the front porch watching the sunset below the horizon was unforgettable.

We linked out with the owner of the only pub in Hondeklip Bay, Dop en Kreef. She was as open and friendly as you could expect someone living in a small town like Hondeklip Bay. She organized us some delicious pub chow and some of their famous cocktails to wash it all down with. Couldn’t have asked for a better 3 days!
